Sioux Valley Dakota Nation and Gen7 Begin Historic Partnership with New Station Set to Open in October

Winnipeg, MB – September 29, 2026 – Sioux Valley Dakota Nation and Gen7 are set to reopen their newly renovated gas station, Sioux Valley Gen7 in October 2026. This partnership officially began at the end of July 2026, in an intimate ceremony at the Oodena Celebration Circle in Winnipeg, Manitoba. During this ceremony, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed, marking the beginning of a partnership to expand the Nation’s existing fuel station into Sioux Valley Gen7.
Sioux Valley Gen7 will become the 14th location across Canada, and Gen7’s fourth location in Manitoba. Following the record-breaking success of their expansion across British Columbia earlier this year, this partnership represents yet another milestone in Gen7’s continued national growth and in the Nation’s devotion to self-determination.
Sioux Valley Dakota Nation is one of the 43 First Nation communities with a Self-Government Agreement, reflecting a tradition of self-determination, leadership, and decision-making focused on creating long-term economic opportunities for their future generations to come. The partnership between Sioux Valley Dakota Nation and Gen7 is yet another step forward towards sovereignty and creating a lasting impact for those who come after. “One of our biggest opportunities will be expanding what our station can offer. This includes developing a sovereign tobacco strategy under Sioux Valley Dakota Nation’s own laws and authority, along with other initiatives that can increase our revenue generated and kept within our Nations.” Said the Sioux Valley Dakota Nation Leadership in a recent press release.
“We're very grateful to be partnering with Sioux Valley Dakota Nation on this exciting expansion alongside Chief Jennifer Bone and the entire community. We recognize that by entering this partnership we are working toward a shared vision of building something that will benefit our families for generations to come."
– Mat McLeod, President, Gen7
“The purpose of this change is to strengthen our business, create more opportunities for our people and ensure that more of the economic activity happening on our lands benefits out community. We are excited about this next chapter and believe the move to Gen7 gives us an opportunity to build something stronger for our Nation.”
– Sioux Valley Dakota
"Holding this signing at Oodena was incredibly meaningful to me. For thousands of years, this has been a place where Indigenous Nations came together to trade, build relationships, form alliances, and make decisions that strengthened their communities. Sioux Valley Dakota Nation's Self-Government Agreement reflects that same spirit today. It was an honour to begin this partnership in a place that has always represented Indigenous leadership, cooperation, and prosperity. We hope the work we do together becomes another chapter in that continuing story."
– Landon Miller, Chief Visionary Officer, Gen7 LP
